Do my customers need to download an app?

No. They order inside WhatsApp — the messaging app more than 2 billion people already use. No downloads, no account creation, no passwords.

How do customers find my WhatsApp number?

Anywhere you put it: a QR code on tables and takeaway bags, the link in your Instagram bio, your Google Business profile, or a “Chat to order” button on your website. Scanning opens the chat with your restaurant instantly.

What languages does the AI understand?

The agent reads natural language, including typos, slang, and mixed-language messages. It responds in the language your restaurant configures.

Can customers track their order?

Yes. They get WhatsApp updates at each status change — confirmed, preparing, ready, out for delivery — and can ask “status” any time for an instant, deterministic answer.

The AI

How does the AI take orders without mistakes?

Three guardrails: routine requests (“menu”, “status”, “help”) are answered deterministically without touching the AI; every cart is validated against your live menu and modifier rules before checkout; and the order is confirmed with the customer before it is placed. An item that does not exist cannot be ordered.

What happens if a conversation goes wrong?

A recovery agent watches for stuck conversations and can clarify, reset, or escalate to a human — it is architecturally unable to place orders. Staff can also take over any chat with one tap, see the full history, and hand back to the AI when done.

Will the AI upsell my customers?

Yes, tastefully. It suggests relevant add-ons (drinks, sides, desserts) based on the cart — the kind of suggestion a good waiter makes. You control whether it is enabled.

Payments & money

How do customers pay?

In the chat: a secure Stripe payment link for cards, or cash on delivery. Either way the order lands on your kitchen board the moment it is confirmed.

Do you take a commission per order?

No. Orderly is a flat subscription with 0% per-order commission. Card payments carry standard Stripe processing fees (~2.9%), which go to Stripe.

Who is the merchant of record?

You are. Payments settle to your own Stripe account — the revenue, payout schedule, and customer relationship are yours, not ours.

Can I issue refunds?

Yes — one-tap refunds with reason tracking from the portal or mobile app, plus settlement reports and a chargeback evidence builder for disputes.

How fast can I go live?

Minutes, not weeks. Photograph your menu and the vision AI drafts items, categories, prices, and options for your review. Connect your WhatsApp number and you are taking orders.

Do I need new hardware?

No. The kitchen board runs in any browser and on native iOS/Android apps. A phone or an existing tablet at the counter is enough.

Can my staff use it too?

Yes — invite staff by email with granular permissions (orders, menu, conversations, financials). Every action is recorded in an audit log with AI-vs-human attribution.

What if my kitchen gets slammed?

Hit pause. Customers see a polite hold message until you resume. You can also set split-shift hours and holiday closures so the AI never takes an order you cannot cook.

Which countries does Orderly support?

Anywhere WhatsApp works. Card payments require a Stripe-supported country; cash on delivery works everywhere.
